Banana Nut Muffin Martini
Season 2, Episode 23, TOW the Chicken Pox opens with the gang hanging out at Central Perk (we know — there’s a first time for everything), and Rachel informs Monica and Chandler that there’s only one banana nut muffin left. Chandler grabs it, licks it, and hilarity ensues.
And so does our signature cocktail: The Banana Nut Muffin Martini.
We were inspired by this recipe from RumChata — it’s pretty darn sweet, which is great when you’re looking for a straight-up dessert martini. But we wanted to add a little something extra into ours, so we introduced another nutty factor: black walnut bitters. We also played with the garnish a bit; instead of floating some walnuts on top, we crushed them and rimmed the martini glass with them. It makes for a prettier cocktail with a little texture and nuttiness in every sip!
BANANA NUT MUFFIN MARTINI
2 ounces RumChata
1 ounce Frangelico
1/2 ounce banana liqueur (we used 99 Bananas)
1 - 2 dashes of walnut bitters
Crushed walnuts (for garnish)
Place the crushed walnuts in a shallow dish (e.g., dessert plate). Rim the martini glass with Frangelico, then invert the glass onto the walnuts to coat the rim. Dab around as needed to get an even coating.
Combine the RumChata, Frangelico, banana liqueur, and walnut bitters in a cocktail shakers over ice. Shake vigorously and strain into the martini glass.
